All athletes must have their paperwork and medicals up to date for Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Practice will begin at 9:30 AM for the Practice Squad and 10:00 AM for the Competition Team. Practice ends at 11:30ish. We are expected to leave the pool by 12 noon. Please arrange for your rides to be there at or before 12 noon. All athletes must check in with the Deck Coach once you are ready to swim.
The Practice Squad are athletes who do not want to compete or are in other sports but may want to accomplish some conditioning. Practice Squad members are welcome to participate in drills.
Practices will be at the District Aquatics Center (DAC) at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington.
You must attend at least 8 practices to qualify for the competition. We will give allowances for inclement weather or if the pool breaks down. Again, 8 practice sessions.

Aquatics Deck Coach
- Must be registered with Special Olympics Wisconsin as a Class A Volunteer and complete the general coaching certification. Can attend 100% of all scheduled practices.
- Functions of the position involve: daily attendance record of all coaches and athletes at each practice, keeping times for each athlete in each event participating in, and problem solving as needed.
- This is not an in-the-pool position. Disability accommodation as needed.
Aquatics Coach
- Must be registered with Special Olympics Wisconsin as a Class A Volunteer and complete the general coaching certification. Additional certification specifically in Aquatics strongly desired and recommended.
- Candidates must have competitive swimming experience, preferably as a competitive swimmer, lifeguard, rescue swimmer, and/or a Water Safety Instructor.
- Functions of the position involve: training competitive swimmers with emphasis on technique, endurance, and proper competitive mind-set with the supervision of athletes at all Aquatics level events.
- Appropriate response to in-water and deck emergencies.
- This is an in-pool position.
- Attendance of 100% of all practices, events, and the State Games is required.
- Will be assigned to the more advanced swimmers on the team.
