2024 Ozaukee County Special Olympics Aquatics Team
2025 Aquatics Team Season Schedule
There is a pool and we need to swim in it.
All athletes must have their paperwork and medicals up to date for the Special Olympics Wisconsin.
The Aquatics Team practice will begin on Saturday, January 4th, 2025. Our home pool is the District Aquatics Center (DAC) at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington. Our alternative pool is located at the Grafton High School. Everyone must enter the pool from the side door by the parking lot and not the school door. This is a security measure put into place this year.
We will keep to the same schedule as last year with the exception that coaches will be able to do their warm-ups at 9:00 AM if they so wish. No athlete will enter the water before 9:30 AM. All athletes must check-in and check-out with the Deck Coach. As stated, practice will begin at 9:30 AM for the Practice Squad and 10:00 AM for the Competition Team. Practice ends at 11:30ish and maybe earlier if we get everything done.
All athletes will have swim goggles. There are extra googles with the coaches. Swim fins are a good training tool. DAC has those if you do not want to spend the money on fins. We will be doing some fin training this season.
If you are sick, let us know and do not come to practice. If you are injured, attend if you can.
We are expected to leave DAC by 12 noon. Please arrange for your rides to be there at or before 12 noon.
The Practice Squad are athletes who do not want to compete or are in other sports but may want to accomplish some conditioning. Practice Squad members are welcome to participate in team drills, particularly the relays.
You must attend and participate in at least 8 of the 11 practices to qualify for the competition. We will give allowances for inclement weather or if the pool breaks down. We will accept alternative training if you swim at least 14 lengths in one session at a different pool during the week.
Again, 8 practice sessions for competition. No exceptions.
